The Maritime Squadrons Association is established: 

  • for the benefit of and in the interests of members and ex-members of all maritime squadrons in the Royal Australian Air Force; 
  • to foster the spirit of friendship formed in the Service, and to perpetuate and honour the ideals of the Association; 
  • to preserve the memory of comrades who have died; and 
  • to provide periodic reunions of members. 

Membership

New members are always very welcome.   The following persons shall be eligible for Ordinary Membership of this Association: 

  • All personnel who have served in a maritime wing or squadron in the Royal Australian Air Force.
  • All personnel who have served in a RAAF squadron associated with a maritime squadron or served in a RAAF unit associated with maritime duties.   
  • All personnel who have served in a maritime wing or squadron of any military force. 

Any Ordinary Member is eligible to become a Life Member of the Association by payment in advance of a lump sum equivalent to ten years of the current annual membership fees. 

The National Executive also may nominate any Ordinary Member to Life Membership, in recognition of their contribution or outstanding service to the Association. Any such nominations shall be proposed and voted on at the Annual General Meeting. 

The following persons, not being eligible for Ordinary Membership of this Association, shall be eligible to become Affiliate Members of this Association: 

  • Spouses of members or of deceased members. 
  • Persons who, being not less than eighteen years of age, are sons or daughters of members or of deceased members of this Association. 
  • Personnel who fly or who assist in the flying of civilian maritime aircraft or of former Service aircraft, such as the SP-2H Neptune A89-273, AP-3C Orion A9-753 or similar aircraft. 
  • Personnel with an interest in maritime flying or operations and are nominated by two Life /Ordinary Members of this Association. Final approval to be with the National Executive. 

Please submit the MSA Application Form by post or email to the Secretary via the addresses shown on the form.

Meetings

Maritime Squadrons Association members and their guests meet annually for a luncheon or dinner reunion in Brisbane, Wollongong, Canberra and Adelaide.   The MSA AGM is held in conjunction with the Brisbane annual dinner, usually in late October each year.   Further details of forthcoming reunion functions are posted on the Future MSA events page.
